What About Our Story?
How We Came to Be
Our Personal Roots...
In the heart of our language company lies a deeply personal story not just of professional achievement, but of passion, heritage, and a deep-rooted love for the art of translation.
Our company was formally established in 2017, but the roots of our linguistic journey can be traced much further back. Our founder, Pavel, is a second-generation linguist and sees his work and passion for languages as a natural continuation of his mother Nelly’s heritage. It was more than half a century ago, in the 1970s, when Nelly embarked on her journey to become one of Bulgaria’s leading literary translators, lending her voice to the works of literary giants like William Saroyan, Ray Bradbury, William Faulkner, Federico Lorca, and Gabriel García Márquez. She mastered the art of capturing the essence of their literary genius and translating their complex worlds for a Bulgarian audience that was cautiously, yet curiously coveting a glimpse beyond the Iron Curtain.
Pavel, captivated by her seemingly magical work, first on the typewriter and later – on the computer, started learning English when he was 3 years old. This early exposure kindled a lifelong passion for languages and understanding meaning that is still very much alive. At the young age of 13, Pavel spent days gathering the courage to ask an editor for permission to try and translate a few pages of a fantasy book that he liked into Bulgarian. Although his wary question was met with condescending laughter and a slammed door, Pavel managed not to lose heart and persisted forward. Less than a year later that paid off, when a publisher took a chance on him and Pavel’s first translated book was published in Bulgarian. That marked the beginning of a collaboration with Nelly that lasted more than 15 years, as they were empowered by the blossoming expansion of the Internet and the opportunities it provided to freelance linguists all around the world.
Following Nelly’s unfortunate passing in 2016, Pavel took it to heart to make sure that her heritage of translating, of being able to discover, understand, and re-create concepts and meaning, would remain a lasting part of his life. And so, a year later, our company was born.
…and Our Professional Growth
As years unfolded, our founder gathered around him a team of like-minded linguists, each bringing their own unique blend of skill, passion, and dedication to the craft.
Together, we are a colorful mosaic of individuals and a small yet vibrant community of professional freelancers. Among us, we share a formidable collective experience of nearly 100 years and have localized more than 60 million words into Bulgarian. True to our founder’s work origins, our team embodies an inspiring partnership between the wisdom of seasoned translators and the fresh perspectives of well-selected enthusiastic new talents, all united by a shared commitment to excellence and a love for languages.
At our core, we are driven by a mission much greater than simply translating words. We strive to ensure the relevant and proficient localization of our clients’ concepts, ideas, and materials into Bulgarian, nurturing and showcasing the lexical, semantic, and grammatical richness of our mother tongue – one of the oldest Slavic languages. Throughout decades of experience, our expertise spans a vast array of projects, from manuals, policies, and contracts through game localization, movie and TV show subtitling, high-visibility print, outdoor, and TV advertising, to vehicle service manuals, pharmaceutical products, and medical device IFUs. No task is too big or too small, too simple or too complex for our talents.
Our story is one of passion, heritage, and commitment to excellence. It’s a story that inspires us to defy boundaries, to continuously improve, and to ensure that every word we translate not only conveys meaning but also resonates with the audience in a profound way. As we continue our linguistic quest forward, we invite you to join us on this remarkable journey and explore the boundless possibilities that come with truly understanding and appreciating the power of language.
