The Client

Huawei is a leading global technology company that specializes in telecommunications equipment, consumer electronics, smart devices, and solar energy products. Renowned for its innovation in 5G networks, the company produces a wide range of products including smartphones, laptops, tablets, and wearable devices, as well as offering IT infrastructure and cloud services and solar energy products.

The Project

Our all-encompassing, ongoing collaboration with Huawei involves everything from style guide drafting, glossary creation and maintenance, through translation and revision, to linguistic QA and testing and in-situ validation across a wide variety of content areas. They include localization of HarmonyOS, user interfaces, help files, legal documents, update notes, and user manuals into Bulgarian for dozens of software applications, smartphones, wearables, IoT products, and solar power products.

The Challenges

The project’s complexity is defined by several demanding factors:
  • Volume and Urgency: The sheer size of the client and their large footprint across a variety of sectors, combined with the continuous improvement and updating of their services and product lines, combined with the need for immediate action on new tasks, poses significant logistical challenges.
  • Dynamic Workflow: Managing dozens of simultaneous projects across different content areas each day requires exceptional organizational skills and flexibility.
  • Stringent Quality Control: Huawei’s rigorous QA processes necessitate meticulous attention to detail and adherence to their high standards, including the ability to justify one’s linguistic choices clearly and understandably to an audience that does not have any knowledge of Bulgarian.
  • Communication Frenzy: The ongoing work often generates dozens, even hundreds of emails daily, demanding superior management and prioritization skills.

Our Solutions

Our approach to these challenges includes a series of strategic decisions and resource allocations:
  • Specialized Roles: We dedicated a team member to act as a project assistant, specifically to handle scheduling and coordination, ensuring that all tasks are addressed in a timely manner. Another team member, specializing in QA and language consultancy, deals directly with Huawei’s project managers to swiftly handle queries and quality checks.
  • Expert Focus: Our most experienced IT linguist is fully dedicated to the Huawei account, prioritizing their projects to guarantee responsiveness and consistent productivity.
  • Continuous Training: We mark regular participation in training sessions to stay updated on Huawei’s proprietary platforms and internal QA procedures, which is critical for meeting their specific requirements.
